Multiple complaints filed against Ironton bankruptcy attorney

The decision to file for personal bankruptcy is never an easy one. It’s typically the result of a series of struggles involving a lot of emotion and disappointment. People needing to file may worry about the social stigma that having filed for bankruptcy carries in the Cuyahoga Falls community. Yet, with the help of the right bankruptcy attorney, the experience of filing for either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy may actually end up being a positive one.

However, if one happens to chooses the wrong person to represent them in his or her bankruptcy case, the potential consequences could be disastrous. Such has been the case with a number of Lawrence County residents who have filed a formal complaint against an Ironton attorney. The complaint details, among other things, a number of bankruptcy cases for which the attorney had been the legal counsel. In each case, she had allegedly failed to appear at scheduled meetings with creditors. One case even goes so far as to claim that she mishandled or lost important paperwork involving personal assets that the client wished to keep. Due to the papers not being submitted, the asset was repossessed by the creditor even though payments were being made on it.

When making the decision of filing for bankruptcy, one may want to consider hiring a bankruptcy attorney to help with the process. If one does choose to retain an attorney, it’s important to sufficiently research their background and case history to get an accurate idea of the attorney’s capabilities and reputation. One may even want to speak with the attorney’s former clients for a real-world example of their quality of work.
